Carrollton Native and Veteran Cody Maiden Finds Purpose Through Recovery at Isaiah House

Cody found restoration through Christ and now helps other men find freedom at Isaiah House.

CARROLLTON, KY – Addiction nearly cost Cody Maiden everything—his family, his career, and his future. A U.S. Army veteran and Northern Kentucky native, Cody’s struggle with alcohol and substance use escalated over the years, leading to the loss of his marriage, his home, and the ability to see his children.

“I wasn’t homeless in the sense of living on the streets, but I was running out of options,” Cody said. “When my grandmother finally had to turn me away, I knew I had to make a change.”

This led Cody to Isaiah House Treatment Center, where he found not only sobriety but also a renewed sense of purpose. With faith, structure, and the support of the recovery community, he was able to rebuild his life, restore his relationships, and step into the role he was meant for—helping others do the same.

Today, Cody serves as a Recovery Housing Associate at Isaiah House, working directly with men in recovery. His personal journey allows him to connect with clients in a unique way, offering guidance, support, and a reminder that long-term recovery is possible.

“My kids have two choices in life—they can follow in my footsteps or be better than me. I want to be an example for them,” Cody said. “If they ever struggle, I want to be the one to reach out my hand and say, ‘I’ve been there. I’ve done it. And I’ve overcome it.’”

Cody is just one of over 3,000 Kentuckians served by Isaiah House each year. His story is a testament to the power of faith, second chances, and the transformative impact of long-term recovery.

“Through Christ’s love and the dedication of our team, we continue to see lives transformed and communities strengthened,” said Nick Wren, CEO of Isaiah House.
